	Ten year has passed since KIDS’ GUERNICA was initiated in 1995, 50 year after the end of World War II. The 10th anniversary international exhibition was held in Ubud, a famous artists’ village located in the center of Bali Island, Indonesia. The exhibition of peace paintings attracted many people who visited this wonderful resort place from all over the world. ◆Workshop: August 8-9 　 KIDS’ GUERNICA workshop was held in collaboration with Ubud community at Puri Lukisan museum. Totally 40 elementary school students participated in this workshop from five different schools in Ubud and they finished two peaceful paintings. Voluntary staff from Japan who had arrived on August 4th joined the workshop from early in the next morning. At first children were scattered on the big canvas and started the outline drawing inside the museum. Soon the big canvas was filled with drawings of the wonderful nature of Bali. “Why don’t you draw that tree bigger?” “What do you think if I draw some fish here?” The children discussed the idea with each others and finalized the outline of the painting. We staff were stunned by them who drew everything without looking at them. The workshop was a lot of fun with many cheerful faces and laughter, we had snacks and lunch together, made some origami, paper folding, and also played Frisbee. 　　　 ◆Preparing for the exhibition in the football field August 10th 　With help of people of Taman village, Ubud, we started making bamboo frames. To dig holes on the ground, cut bamboos, tie them with ropes, and put together. We were again stunned how dexterous they were. Our staff also worked very hard, tying ropes, carrying bamboos, didn’t we!? From 13th, we started putting the paintings one by one. 　　 　 　 ◆Exhibiting in the art gallery of Puri Lukisan museum. 　We exhibited panels of those we couldn’t get the originals in the museum. ◆Football field, over with preparing! 　August 17th was Independence Day of Indonesia. This year was the 60th anniversary and there was a huge event going on. Various programs were held in the football field from 14th. We saw many kids practicing for the event when we went to the field for preparation of exhibition. In this morning, they were practicing for tug of war. Our staff also joined in. 　 　　 ◆August, 17th Pre Event Party 　We held a pre event party at U bud 1st elementary school, which is just next to football field. The member of international committee also participated and with the people of Taman village who helped us for preparation, Ubud royal family and people of Ubud community. We had delicious Indonesian dishes together.
