   Mr.Oura Mr.Anderson Mr.Tjokorda
After the leader of this event, Prof. Ooura, declared the opening, Prof. Tom Anderson from the United States (a member of the KIDS’GUERNICA International Committee), and Mr. Tjokorda Gde Putra Sukawati, a grand son of the former king of Ubud gave their opening speeches. Then the ceremony was begun.

The opening program was started with a dance and performance of Gamelan by elementary students of Ubud. It was so professional that we could hardly believe elementary school children performed such a wonderful dance and music. Not just participants from Japan but also tourists were very overwhelmed by their artistic performance. Then there were several programs by Japanese participants. Singing, dancing, traditional flute play, and vocal solo… people of Ubud were pretty much impressed as well.

Workshop of experiencing Balinese culture, Morning of August 19th
Leader of Taman Village, Mr. Gusti had let us experience some interesting culture of Bali. He climbed the tree of coconut and entertained us the tasty juice of it. After that, his wife and the village people showed us how to make offerings with leaves of a palm tree. They make many different kinds of things with it. We were all fascinated by their skill. They taught us some easy ones but it was actually not so easy.

Donating some of KIDS’ GUERNICA paintings to Puri Lukisan museum
We donated some of some of KIDS’ GUERNICA paintings that were exhibited in this exhibition to the art gallery of Puri Lukisan museum. The museum is going to make a special space to show KIDS’ GUERNICA peace paintings. Maybe you will be able to see some of KIDS’ GUERNICA paintings when you visit the museum in Ubud!

This international exhibition in Bali included 16 paintings from Japan, 12 paintings from Indonesia, Thai, Nepal, India, New Zealand, USA, Australia, Greece, Spain, Czech, East-Timor and China. These paintings were exhibited in the football field in Ubud. 12 paintings among them are placed in Pri Lukisan museum. When you visit Ubud, try to see the museum.

In this exhibition, approximately 130 people participated from Japan, and 20 some people from other foreign countries also did. We’d like to thank students who worked as staff for preparing, people who participated workshops and ceremony during the event and more than anyone, people of Ubud who helped us a lot in many ways. We were really glad that tourists who were there, and children of Ubud could see many different KIDS’ GUERNICA peace paintings. We want to thank Mrs. Nobuyo Fujimoto, who lives in Bali, and helped us very much as a interpreter, guides and such. She promised us that she will keep working for KIDS‘ GUERNICA project in Ubud as a local branch staff. KIDS‘ GUERNICA has been grown through making human relationships in such a way. There were many young people among participants in this peace event. Some of them had a experience of participating in KIDS‘ GUERNICA workshop before. They were always thinking seriously about peace and trying to continue their own peace activities whatever they could. KIDS‘ GUERNICA will surely be continued to value such encounters with people who wish peace and spread the peace of seeds all over the world.
In October, a bomb blast happened in Bali where we had a fantastic event for peace in August. We really hope that someday such tragic terrorism could be disappeared from this world.

Our mission of KIDS’ GUERNICA would be accomplished only when we could realize to make a peaceful world without feuds, wars and fights. But till the day comes, we would like to continue to our KIDS’ GUERNICA project thinking about “peace” with children.
