KIDS' GUERNICA EXHIBITION in Oradour (France)

During World War II, the village of Oradour, on the outskirts of Limoges about three hours from Paris, was destroyed and its people were massacred by Nazis.
To tell this crucial piece of history, part of the village remains the same as it was after it was destroyed.

On April 7th 2003, about 200 participants gathered and the grand unveiling ceremony was held for the most recent Kids' Guernica exhibit at Centre of Remembrance for Oradour,France.

Five paintings drawn by children, from France(Oradour), Spain(Guernica), Czech(Lidice), Belarus( Khatyn) and Greece(Kalavrita) are being displayed inside of the hall and eight paintings, from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, India/Bengal, Bosnia, Algeria, Ethiopia and Japan(Hiroshima) are displayed outside.

The selected pictures are from areas that have been affected by war, regional conflict and ehtnic violence, and destroyed by the Nazis. Hiroshima was where an atomic bomb was dropped.
The children from Guernica, Lidice, Khatyn, Kalavrita and Oradour attended the opening ceremony.

The 13 paintings seem to tell us that the future of the children who come to the next is filled fortunately so that the past miserable fact might never be repeated.
The exhibition is held till September 30th 2003.
