Big Mural
Workshop in Toblach, Italy
2000

We speak about the theme "PEACE" and the children express this theme, which touches the adults emotionally. (Peace means freedom, love, communication, coming together, togetherness, etc.) We go deeper into the theme: peace=freedom.

With the aid of diapositives of the art of Picasso and other modern artist we let the children draw and paint figures, forms, symbols straight from their imagination onto paper. In this playful, creative way (movement, music, breathing, games, conversation) the children put thier ideas and thoughts onto the big canvas. In addition, they cut the forms up and placed them in harmonious positions togeher and painted with other colours so as to show su the different combinations. The fact of the matter is that we found our togetherness from the development of the figurative and abstract art which lead us to the dimension: time, peace, love.

The paintbrush was only an instrument of fulfilment for the whole work of art. The first drawings that were put onto the paper we composed together in another way. A game had been played according to the "Forms of art".

At the beginning the motivation for the work was for some childeren to produce a picture with only one aim a trip to Nepal, not the experimentation, the painting, the joy of creating something togather. But from day to day the ego stepped back and the days of the week changed themselves into an experience of a greater openness, overview, responsibility, ease, more PEACE.
