This Project was mentioned to me by Dr.Takuya Kaneda, Professor of Otuma women's university (Depertment of child study) Tokyo, during end 1995. I was invited to visit Kathmadu in March 1996 during the KIDS' GUERNICA mural exhibition participated by children of global.
Their awarness, being a painter and photographer, has always been very acute. The horrors of war and sufferings to children always brought great grief to me. Hence my reaction to KIDS' GUERNICA has been tantaneus and with whole-heartedness.
In India the project was executed under the auspices of West Bengal Federation of United Nations Associations. As this organisation has a financial crunch, I had to seek out for persons who were aware and ready an extend help. Immediate support came from National Council of Education, Bengal in the form of space, provided for painting of the large sized mural. Due to Economic difficulties the necessary fund for food, conveyance, materials for painting etc. for children became hard to come by. However the support I received from friends and the Artist community, allowed us to make the project possible, but then to our great amazement we were allotted the lawn of Assembly House to exhibit and furthermore the Hon'ble chief Minister requested us for extention of the show which eventually became a great success.
