Colerain High Schoolfs Message of Peace

Colerain High School Advanced Design Art students and art teacher Carrie
Barnett worked with Cincinnati artist, Jahaziel Minor, to create a Guernica
sized peace mural that illustrates both local and global images of peace.

Brainstorming began at the end of February, 2010. Students began by
studying Picasso's Guernica mural and then discussed personal and global images of
peace. Guided by Jahaziel Minor, the students worked together to create a
composition they felt would express their idea to a global audience. Work
on the actual canvas began on March 1st, 2010 (the beginning of national
Youth Art Month) and was completed within a two week period.

Special thanks to Home Depot, for supplying all our paint needs, Beth
Williamson, for sewing all the individual panels together, FASTSIGNS on
Galbraith, for preparing the mural for hanging, and Borders Bookstore, for hosting
our public unveiling on April 16, 2010.
