Big Mural
Workshop in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia
10to 11 February 1999
ADDIS ABEBA TSIREHA TSION ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
ART JAPAN

This workshop was organized as a part of "Peace Creation Project: Ethiopia and Japan". 6-17 year old students participated in the workshop. Some of them were once poor street children. Approximately 30 students created a mural. The participant children considered that "Peace" meant to live with parents in a warm family and to keep independent against colonialism. Due to the serious political problem between Ethiopia and Eritoria, the working time had to be shortened but they worked so hard continuously for eight hours every day. The mural expressed children's life and history of Africa impressively.
