Workshop in Bali, Indonesia
August, 2001
at Sekorah Dasar No.4 UBUD (No.4 Elementary School)

A workshop was successfully held at Sekorah Dasar No.4 Elementary School in Ubud located in the center of Bali Island, Indonesia. Ubud is well known as a village of artists. The school was surrounded by rice fields in the beautiful nature. 124 students of this school were very healthy and joyful. Firstly, all the students made their own images of peace. Then some of them were selected as the main subjects of the painting with art teachers and some of studentfs fathers, traditional painters, in this village. 11 sixth grade students started painting on a big canvas in their class room, where they could not take any ordinary classes until the end of the workshop. They had to study in the school storage room during the workshop. The participating students were very eager in painting and their fathers were very cooperative throughout the workshop. Even in the night they came to school and continued painting. After their hard work, they could complete a wonderful peace painting.
Special thanks for Sarma, Gusti, Ms. Junko Muroi, all teachers, students and their fathers.
